ARCTIC TREEHOUSE HOTEL, Rovaniemi
The Arctic Tree House Hotel in Rovaniemi, Lapland, is more than accommodation. It is an
experience where you are surrounded by the arctic nature. Uniquely designed with respect for their surrounds. The Arctic Tree House Hotel won the World Luxury Hotel Award in 2018.
The Suites are the ultimate for relaxation and luxury. They have a separate
bedroom and living room. The bedroom has king size bed and a separate
wellness area. The wellness area brings nature close with its scenery sauna and bath, where
one can enjoy the surrounding forest through the floor-to-ceiling windows which are made
using the latest privacy-valuing technology.
The Rakas Restaurant & Bar charms with its unique ambiance and menu of meals made from
local ingredients prepared with a modern twist.
Reindeer and Husky Experience – approximately 4 hours
Your guide will drive you in a very small group to one of the most traditional reindeer farms in Lapland. The families of herders are based just outside of Rovaniemi on the lovely shores of a peaceful lake, and they provide the best experience possible when it comes to both knowledge and service.
You will learn about the reindeers, be shown around the farm and, because it is the first visit of the day, you will be given a chance to feed them their favourite food, lichen, which to reindeer is like chocolate! The visit will end with time around the fire with a herder who will answer all your questions.
After this, your guide will take you to the husky kennel to meet the excited dogs. The mushers will greet you at their farm, so will the barking of their lovely huskies. The mushers will explain their lifestyle, what the job of a musher consists of, how they train their dogs and answer all your questions. You will spend time with the dogs and cuddle them. Summer is also the period when they have their puppies!
At the end of this trip, you will get back to Rovaniemi with a great insight of two very iconic arctic animals!
This excursion is limited to 8 people maximum. It’s very important to provide you with the best experience as possible, and avoid mass tourism. Quad Bike Ride in the Arctic Circle – 3 hours
Prior to setting off on your adventure, your professional guide will teach you how to ride an ATV and give you the safety instructions. Enjoy this cruise through nature and get to know all about our Lappish landscape! Once you get used to driving these vehicles, you will drive up a hill where you will have a stop and enjoy the breath-taking view over Lapland’s mystical forests. During the break, fresh Finnish blueberry juice and local gingerbread cookies will be provided. After the break, it’s time for you to head back downhill and journey through the magical forests of Lapland to the lakeside. There, you have a moment to enjoy the views and sun’s reflections on the lake before heading home.
Midnight Sun Delight – 3 hours
Experience the beauty of the Midnight Sun on an evening tour! Your tour guide will drive you to the best view spots and will explain in detail about this polar phenomenon and life in the Arctic.
The landscapes of the Arctic are highlighted by fantastic natural phenomenon all year round. From Autumn to Spring, the Northern Lights draw their green and red arches across the skies. In summer, the sun never sets and shines all day and all night -this is the Midnight Sun! After a long dark winter with snow on the ground for over 6 months, the land, vegetation and animals finally replenish their energy levels and relax with the abundance of life that the 24 hour sun brings with it.
Depending on your physical ability, your guide will take you to a hilltop, lakeside shores or riverbanks to enjoy the spectacular warm lights of the never-setting sun, with some typical Finnish snacks cooked on an open fire. You will be taught fire lighting skills, and told more about Lapland, life in the Arctic, and the phenomenon of the Midnight Sun in relation to the Arctic Circle, where Rovaniemi is located. This tour is intended to be relaxing and informative.
