The Loire Valley

Known as the Garden of France, the Loire Valley boasts many important sites and historical châteaux, royal hunting grounds for the Kings of France. Producing original, varied and exquisite wines, the region is divided into smaller appellations (such as Anjou, Bourgueil, Saumur, and Touraine, to name but a few) spread over1000 for kms; with 54 appellations, there is a wine for every taste and every occasion. This region is also well-known for its many historical figures, from Joan of Arc to Richard the Lionheart and Leonardo Da Vinci. In 2000, the Val de Loire was awarded the status of UNESCO World Heritage Site in recognition of the exceptional cultural value of its landscapes and the quality of its architectural heritage

Chinon Town & Perfume workshop with your driver-guide, starts with the guided tour of Chinon, a picturesque medieval Loire Valley town. You will be charmed by its quaint streets and impressed by the huge Fortress that dominates the town. Free time for lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy a unique experience with a renowned French perfumer, an exceptional personality in the world of perfumes. Having studied sociology and political science the master began his career as a diplomat and even received the Historical Award by the prestigious “Académie Française” before beginning his career in perfumery in 1992. He welcomes you in his personal home and workshop, overviewing the Loire River, near Saumur and Chinon. During a private session the professional perfumer initiates you into the art of creating personal fragrances. Under the attentive eye of your mentor, learn how to handle the rarest and most precious essential oils (agar wood, different roses, jasmine, tuberose, sandalwood, civet, ambergris etc.) which he keeps fresh in his safe like a treasure. In your host’s kitchen your experience continues with an aromatic tea time harmonizing local specialties and fragrances like rose, jasmine or sandalwood perfume.
